Antje Kratz was born without arms as a result of thalidomide and found her way to painting from an early age. She trained formally in scenic painting at the Municipal Theatres in Frankfurt and refined her skills further under artist Hermann Haindl — a rigorous foundation that shows in every painting she makes. She received a scholarship from the Mouth and Foot Painting Artists in 1981 and became a full member in 1988. Painting with her right foot, Antje has developed a confident, richly nuanced style across still lifes and Italian landscapes, exhibiting extensively throughout Frankfurt and beyond.
Framed Fruits shows that confidence in full — a classical still life composition given a warm, contemporary edge by the dusty pink background and the bold geometry of the painted frame within the frame. Apples, grapes and peaches arranged with the kind of studied ease that takes years to achieve. Printed on semi-gloss FSC-certified paper and presented in a polished black aluminium frame with shatterproof plexiglass, it ships with all hardware for easy self-assembly. Every purchase directly supports Antje and the MFPA's mission of financial independence for disabled artists worldwide.
