Alba Luz Socorro Pérez
Alba Luz Socorro Pérez was born in Tapachula, Mexico, in 1968. At the age of 14, she developed rheumatoid arthritis, and as the condition progressed she gradually lost the use of her arms and legs. Living in a remote mountain town with limited access to medical care, she began painting and drawing with her mouth as both a creative outlet and a way to pass the time.
Her remarkable determination and natural talent quickly became evident through the rapid progress of her work. Since receiving a scholarship from the Mouth and Foot Painting Artists in 2004, Alba Luz has continued developing her artistic practice and sharing her creativity through mouth painting.
