This print is part of the MFPA Icons Collection — a series celebrating the life and work of deceased Australian full members of the Mouth and Foot Painting Artists. These are artists who built careers, exhibited internationally, and left behind paintings that deserve to keep finding new walls.
John Smith (d. 2007) came to painting after a horse-riding accident in 1971 left him paralysed. A former cattle farmer with a deep connection to the land, he received a scholarship from the MFPA and became a full member in 1983. Based in tropical North Queensland, John found endless inspiration in the natural world around him — the outback, native animals, rural life, and the Great Barrier Reef just offshore. His paintings carried the eye and instincts of someone who had spent a lifetime outdoors, and his work was exhibited internationally throughout his career.
Dolphins captures that world in full — a rich, luminous reef scene teeming with life, dolphins gliding above a garden of coral and reef fish. Printed on semi-gloss FSC-certified paper and set in a durable pine frame with shatterproof plexiglass, it arrives ready to hang in four frame colour options (70cm x 100cm). A piece of Australian art history for your wall. Purchasing this print helps preserve John's legacy and supports the MFPA's mission of financial independence for disabled artists worldwide.
